Northern Lights #5 x Haze Seeds

Northern Lights #5 x Haze

Award-winning sativa legend with Haze height and Northern Lights power

Northern Lights #5 x Haze by Sensi Seeds is a feminized 70/30 sativa-indica cross that brings together two of the most influential lines in modern cannabis history: Northern Lights #5 and Haze. This multi-award-winning cultivar is clearly sativa-dominant, combining the height, energy, and expression of Haze with the dense flower formation, resin production, and yield power of Northern Lights genetics.

In the grow, Northern Lights #5 x Haze is tall, branchy, and highly productive. Sensi describes her as a long-flowering cultivar with around 65-75 days of bloom, XXL yields, and substantial height gain during flowering. Indoors, plants usually reach around 120-170 cm, while outdoors they can climb to 250-300 cm under optimal warm and sunny conditions. Training methods such as SCROG, SOG, lollipopping, and supercropping suit her structure well.

The aroma moves through earth, citrus, pine, spice, and a touch of sweetness - classic, present, and clearly Haze-influenced on the palate. The effect begins lively, creative, and social, with an uplifting head high that later settles into deeper physical relaxation. A cultivar for those who are not just chasing a historic name, but a big, expressive sativa with substance, yield, and true legacy.

Autoflower

Autoflowering cannabis strains are hybrids with Ruderalis genetics that bloom independently of light cycles. This trait evolved as an adaptation to northern climates with short summers. Unlike photoperiod strains, which require specific light cycles to flower, autoflowers begin flowering automatically after a growth period of approximately 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the genetics. Their short lifecycle—usually around 70 to 80 days—makes them ideal for quick harvests, whether grown indoors or outdoors.

Autoflowers are popular among beginners and experienced growers alike due to their simplicity and ability to produce multiple harvests in a year. High-quality autoflowers are often resilient to cold, pests, and mold, though breeding quality plays a crucial role. Poorly bred autoflowers may be more prone to mold or stress-related issues. Their compact size (typically 75–100 cm) makes them well-suited for small spaces or discreet setups. Additionally, in regions with unpredictable weather or short summers, their rapid lifecycle allows them to bypass extreme conditions before harvest.

Photoperiod

Photoperiod cannabis strains require specific light cycles to trigger their flowering phase. In nature, this phase begins when days grow shorter—typically in late summer or autumn. The process is regulated by light-sensitive proteins called phytochromes. In indoor cultivation, growers replicate these conditions by adjusting the daily light schedule from 18 hours of light (vegetative phase) to usually 12 hours of light and darkness (flowering phase).

Photoperiod strains often offer greater variety and potency than autoflowers, as their genetic pool is broader and not limited by Ruderalis genetics. However, some autoflowers are beginning to close the gap in both potency and diversity. These strains are favored by experienced growers because they allow precise control over growth, size, yield, and cannabinoid profiles. However, they require meticulous management of light cycles, temperature, humidity, and nutrients to achieve optimal results.
