Original or just a new label? The 2-minute check.
When you buy cannabis seeds, you are not just buying a strain name. You are buying a probability: How close will you get to the result you expect?
White label is often the opposite of that: it looks like „high quality“ because it is a private brand, but is often branding without origin.
Names can be copied. Origin cannot - at least not honestly.

What are white label seeds
and why this matters to youWhite label (including private label, bulk, rebrand) is in practice often the same pattern: Genetics from a source that is not cleanly traceable or is communicated without transparency - sold under a shop brand or fantasy brand.
That does not always have to mean bad intentions. But it is risky for you, because:
- Name ≠ genetics (you are buying a label, not necessarily a line)
- Stability unclear (every grow can turn out differently)
- Lack of classification (a lot of promises, little explanation and substance)
Purchasing decisions are often made based on which strain name sounds best or which strain currently seems popular.
Our question: Can they explain where the genetics come from - and what makes them stand out?
White label, bulk seeds, breeder pack
30-second classification1) Breeder pack
You buy from a seed dealer / breeder with a clear signature: selection, line, classification. Not just a name.
2) White label / private label
You are primarily buying the "pRiVaTe bRaNd" or the shop brand. Origin and line remain unclear.
3) Bulk seeds
Mass goods & relabelingCannabis seeds as raw goods: quickly available, quickly renamed, quickly hyped.
In short: breeder pack vs. bulk seeds often makes the difference between predictable and unforeseeable results.
The 2-minute check
Ask yourself these 5 questions. If even the first 2-3 cannot be answered positively, the white label risk is high.
Question 1 - Is a specific breeder named?
Not „our team“, not „our experts“. A traceable origin.
Question 2 - Is there a concrete description?
Does it only say „high quality“, „premium“, "cali", "top-shelf" - or are there real details and limits?
Question 3 - Is the lineage/genetics described plausibly?
You do not need a family tree, but credible indicators for the strain's ancestry.
Question 4 - Does the assortment feel curated?
Curated means consciously selected - not simply the 5 biggest brands or uncritically everything you can get.
Question 5 - Does it hold up under comparison?
Do identical texts/images/claims appear across multiple brands? Does the same „strain“ seem to be described the same everywhere - just under a different label?
You do not need a perfect chain of evidence, but a plausible overall impression.
Red flag meter
You can get the full version as a PDF. Here is the short version:
- ⛔ No breeder / no clear origin
- ⛔ Inflated use of superlatives
- ⛔ Exaggerated quality promises
- ⛔ Generic copy-paste product descriptions
- ⛔ Loveless mixed-bag assortment
- ⛔ Genetics/lineage remain vague
- ⛔ Contradictions (e.g. type/flowering time/info do not match)
- ⛔ Identical images/texts (from other genetics/manufacturers)
- ⛔ Genetics sold by multiple “breeders”
- ⛔ Many reviews that seem fake
| 0 - 2 hits: | looks good | ✅ |
| 3 - 5 hits: | check more closely | 🔍 |
| 6+ hits: | hands off! | ❌ |
Bonus: How to read experience reports
How to assess experience reports for white label probabilityIf you are looking for experiences or impressions about a genetic line, keep the following criteria in mind:
✅ Helpful
- concrete grow reports (images + context + comparison)
- recurring patterns across multiple runs
- clear indications of inconsistency with the product description
- comparable results across different people
🚩 Useless
- only „arrived quickly“ / „was cheap“
- extreme judgments without details
- „hit hard“ (relative to personal tolerance/day condition)
- Seeds did not germinate (could also be user error)
If you suspect white label
1) Do the seedbank check
60 secondsIf white label cannabis seeds are being sold, this points to a lack of curation, identity, and honesty on the part of the seedbank. Do the seedbank check!
➡️ Seedbank check: Reputable or a lottery?
2) Decide taste-first
Do not fall for marketing lies and find what tastes good to you.

FAQ
What is the difference between white label and fake seeds?
White label: A product that is not sold under the original brand and is often sold in bulk to other companies.
Fake seeds: Cannabis seeds sold for marketing purposes under a false, usually successful name.
How do I recognize authentic cannabis genetics?
By traceable origin, transparent information on strain-specific traits, and a legitimate breeder, their expertise/signature, and possibly their story.
Why is this so important to you?
Because we have seen for ourselves what happens when origin does not matter: it turns into an unwanted grab bag. That is why: original genetics instead of fake seeds.
